the web hub :: frequently asked questionsHow much does a website cost?Website costs vary tremendously. It all depends on what you want your website to do. For example a simple site with a few pages of information costs far less than a site with a full shopping cart feature, online product catalogue and credit card facilities. At The Web Hub we will sit down with you and discuss all of your requirements and advise you on the best way to promote your business online. Every website is different from the next. At The Web Hub you will never get a "website in a box". Every site that we design and build is individually custom made and tailored to your specific requirements. What is Search Engine Optimisation?Search Engine Optimisation or (SEO) is what we use to describe the marketing technique of preparing a website to enhance its chances of being found and ranked in the top results of a search engine, such as MSN or Google, when a potential new customer searches for your "keywords". There are many, many different ways of optimising a website and it is quite a complex process but one in which we believe should be part of our service to you. Will my new site automatically appear on the Search Engines? No. It takes time for the search engines to find your site, however, one of our specialties at The Web Hub is to create websites that are search engine friendly. We will also submit your site to the search engines to speed up the process. Once your site has been submitted to the search engines they will come and "spider" through your site and then "index" what they find, but this process does takes time. There are millions of websites on the internet and your site has to compete with all of them. Once your website has been spidered by the search engines it is then added to that index of millions of other sites. So it is vitally important to have your site "optimised". To optimise a site to be found we need to put ourselves in the minds of those potential customers out there. What will they type into their search bar to try and find your website? These words become your sites "keywords". It is our job as your web designer to build your site with these keywords in mind. A website may look absolutely stunning but if noone can find it then there's not much point in having it. In some instances it can be a good idea to set up an "Advertising Campaign" with the major Search Engines. This can guarantee you a spot on the first page of a search but it will cost you money. It works on a "Pay per Click" basis. Contact us for more information. Can I pay to be on the front page of a Search Engine?Yes and No. You can pay for advertising within the "Sponsored Links" section of the Search Engines. This is known as "Pay per Click" where you are only charged if someone clicks on your ad. You cannot pay to appear in the "Natural" searches. Can The Web Hub help set up a Search Engine Ad Campaign?Absolutely. We have an Experienced Ad Campaign Manager that will set you up a targeted advertising campaign with the major Search Engines.
